In the comments of the previous post, Elizabeth brought up the way we announced the sex of Halleigh when we found out, and that got me curious, so if you what to read that post, here is the link. Brooklynne has had a boy name picked out since I said "I do" (Beau Everett), and the ultrasound was quite conclusive, so there is no need to debate names this time around. Still, I'm always in the market for a good nickname so feel free to make your suggestions here. Just to help get your creative juices flowing, here are some sample names we've given our other two dependents:
Halleigh: Hal, HJ, the Halleigh-gator, Jane of the Jungle, tiny girl, my little shadow (Miles), mini-me (Brooklynne)
Kona Bean: Bean, the fluffy muppet, snuggle bunny, poop breath, food fidelis
(help me out Brooklynne--I know there are others)
Brooklynne and I really got especially lucky when we ended up with Kona Bean, but there's just something about these dogs that is special.
I have the best wife ever. Thanks for fixing the video!
I went running again yesterday. That's two days in a row. I did the Pump Station trail again (1.5 miles), which is pretty weak, but you have to start somewhere. Also, the entire run can be done in a half-hour--from the time I walk out of my house, to the time I walk back in. That makes it untra convenient. Last night I went a little too late and in some of the more dense areas of the forest it go hard to see roots and other ankle-injuries-in-waiting. I think I need to plan to be finished by 6pm at the latest for now.
I took Kona with me too. She is a surprisingly good jogging dog. I left her off-leash and she stayed with me the entire time, except once, when she started to chase some small animal. But she immediately stopped and returned as soon as I called (which is not normal behavior for her). I didn't let her swim in the river because I don't plan on bathing her again before the weekend, and it would just be too gross for guests on Wednesday if she was soaked with river water between now and then. Perhaps Friday we'll go swimming/fishing if the weather is still nice....
Do I have any readers who are especially fond of fishing or would like to go sometime?
In honor of the snow this weekend, I dug up this old clip from the winter of 2004. This was our first winter with Kona Bean and she looks so tiny! This trail was about a half hour drive from our house in MT.
They instituted a block on blogger at work, so now I'm unable to view almost all of the websites in my blogroll. My job really goes in fits and spurts so it's a bummer to not be able to read up on you guys between taskers.
In other news, Matt Andrews called me yesterday. Apparently Alana still checks the TWJ periodically and she emailed me to get my info. I almost deleted her message, a standard practice for messages from unknown sources, but something made me hesitate and open hers instead. She is pregnant with a little boy and due in 3 weeks. Matt is still doing sales in the San Diego area and racing on the side. I've got a date to do another "catching up with..." segment with Matt on Sunday night. Stay tuned....
Anyone know how to get in touch with Chad Cook?
We took Kona to the new Duke Park dog park earlier this week. She loved it, but we can tell she's out of shape. I guess we'll have to pay the $12 to get her legal so we can go regularly.
Our garden has once again fallen by the wayside. Our tomatoes were starting to look really good and now they have a disease of some kind that makes them rot from the bottom before they turn ripe. I need to spend some time caring for the garden (and yard) to get it back on track.
It's time again for the Halleigh show. This week is a special show because Brooklynne put it together. If Brooklynne's videography is as prolific as her photography, Halleigh-watchers are in luck!
Before we get to the video, I'd like to quickly plug next week's show also. Brooklynne and I are headed to nova tonight, and we're staying the weekend and showing off Halleigh to all our old friends so we should have ALOT of great footage. Alright, on to the main event....
