A Stroll into the Past
In the comments of the previous post, Elizabeth brought up the way we announced the sex of Halleigh when we found out, and that got me curious, so if you what to read that post, here is the link. Brooklynne has had a boy name picked out since I said "I do" (Beau Everett), and the ultrasound was quite conclusive, so there is no need to debate names this time around. Still, I'm always in the market for a good nickname so feel free to make your suggestions here. Just to help get your creative juices flowing, here are some sample names we've given our other two dependents:
Halleigh: Hal, HJ, the Halleigh-gator, Jane of the Jungle, tiny girl, my little shadow (Miles), mini-me (Brooklynne)
Kona Bean: Bean, the fluffy muppet, snuggle bunny, poop breath, food fidelis
(help me out Brooklynne--I know there are others)

My personal fav for Kona is, Kona, you idiot dog... ha ha ha poor Bean, we really do love her.
Hey -
I always wanted a Beau for a boy ... actually Boaz ... but you could call him Bo. A very strong name, so if you do name him Boaz Everett instead of Beau, I'll give you all $20. Naomi never went for Boaz.
And congrats!
I'm with Gnome on Boaz. I like Beau Everett - nice choice, Brooklynne!! :)
So there is a story behind Beau's name.
My dad had an older brother, Timothy, that died of Leukemia when he was a small child. Timmy couldn't say brother, so he called my dad Bo. After Timmy died people just kept calling my dad Bo and it has been his lifelong nickname.
When I was pregnant with Halleigh I told my dad that I wanted to name our first son after him and Miles said that he would only "allow" it if we spelled his name correctly... Beau, not Bo, as he had been.
So there you have it, Beau (after my dad) and Everett (Miles' middle name). I thought it a fitting way to name our son, honoring the two most important and dearly loved men in my life.
We had a non-negotiable name picked out for Daniel had he been a girl, for much the same reason. Cool story about your dad, Brooke. (Jesus' little sister Emma died in a car accident while they were both kids and Daniel would have been an Emma had he been an XX instead of XY.)
I love it.
There are endless possibilities for nicknames, as with Hal. In the week we lived there I found myself calling her both Halle Barry and Halliburton (I know, the latter is rude- I'm trying to stop).
Nicknames off the top of my head include:
Bo-diddly
Boa constrictor
Bo Baggins
There are more to be sure. Beau is a strong name. Its good to have family ties too, it gives a sense of belonging I think.
Bil-bo
