OK, so I ended up missing the last half of the debate because my phone kept ringing...an unusual Friday night occurrence.
Miles, I didn't get to watch any of the debate, but enjoyed reading through your live-blog summaries (gives you a new appreciation for those courtroom stenographers, eh?!) A quick question: did they really only get through 8 questions in 90 minutes?!
Miles, did you get my previous comment? The web page just refreshed / defaulted back to the "Leave a comment" box, which was empty.
Anyway, I was saying (1) thanks for live-blogging, I enjoyed it; (2) did they really only get through 8 questions in 90 mins?
yes, they did get through the questions more or less. Jim Lehrer did warn them after the second or third question that they would have to answer faster to get through everything. Apparently Lehrer was also keeping track of how long each candidate took to answer and he at about halfway through, he said they were dead-even. I think Lehrer did a pretty good job moderating.
Also, if you want to see the debate, I think it is posted online. If I can find it, I'll post a link later.
I enjoyed it and participated in a debate watch cyber party w/ some nurse friends. It's the first debate I've ever watched in which I stayed with the debate the whole time AND enjoyed it. I happen to think Obama came across better than McCain did, though I agree w/ McCain on several issues.
I also think Lehrer did a good job moderating. I like him.
I am really looking forward to the VP debate Thursday.
