More pictures from the weekend
This was our view from the Beaufort Inn.
There was a lightening storm after we returned from dinner and put Halleigh down. The picture above is the view of the waterway as Brooklynne and I enjoyed dessert on our balcony. The Picture below is another attempt at the same shot, seconds later, which happened to catch the illumination from a lightening bolt.
Some folks commented that the beach looked totally empty in the pictures I posted the other day. Well, we were there on a Monday, so that partly accounts for the lack of crowds, but I think in general, the Ocracoke beaches are less crowded because of their remote location. Also, there is 12 miles of beach between the small village and the end of the island, so if you don't mind going to a more removed beach access, or if you don't mind walking a hundred yards or so, you can get beyond the main crowd of tourists pretty easily. We were on bikes, so we only rode out about 1 mile from the village (the closest public beach access), but we did walk down the beach a bit. The above view is looking back towards the access point, and the below view is looking down the beach in the other direction. If you click to enlarge the images, you can see a vast difference.
Me and my girls watching the sun go down.
