Super Fat Tuesday Endorsement

There's a social politics organizing group in Durham that is throwing a party tomorrow billed as Super Fat Tuesday. Awesome concept for a day when the political and cultural stars align.

Thinking about that, I realized that by this time on Wednesday, America might have all but decided our political candidates for this election cycle, so if I want to have a say, I better say it now. With that in mind, TWJ is announcing its endorsements for the primary season.

And the winners are...

For Democrat: Barack Obama; and for Republican: John McCain.

Now if you are a diehard conservative/Republican and you will have trouble being friends with a left-of-center Democrat, stop reading here and DO NOT click on the continue reading link below.

In full disclosure, I made a promise two years ago that I would not vote Republican for president this time around, no matter who was running (too much ignoring the Constitution and running roughshod over the rights that the country is founded on). Now I want to believe that something can be done, that we can reclaim our moral authority in the world and bring a dedication to liberal (as in the historical meaning--not the Rush meaning) ideals back to the center of American life.

This is why my ultimate endorsement will go to Obama, provided he's the nominee. If you can watch this clip and not be inspired, then turn off your computer and turn on your radio... you're missing the Savage Nation.

Yes, yes, yes.
That is an extremely cool video, and the more I read about Obama, the more I like him. I think he has the ability to unite Americans and make us proud to be Americans....and make friends rather than enemies around the world. Obama is probably going to get my vote too.

I like McCain, but don't like his stance on the war in Iraq, especially now that my btother is a Marine!

Dude, I am with you on this. It makes me sad the McCain is the best the Republicans can come up with. I thought Huckabee would have been much better.

Marshall, I am with you on the disappointment with how poorly Huckabee did!
