Roy's death last week, and Dr. Zagarri's appointment as a temporary replacement means that my prospectus due date has been moved up two weeks. That means I'm really up against a wall now. I will be presenting the rough draft of the paper to the doctoral colloquium in Fairfax on December 3rd.

 

In other history news, today, I'm excited about a the working group in feminist history, which I have started attending from time to time. This week's meeting boasts "a rollicking panel on 'Gender and Biography'" with Katherine Charron, NC State; Enver Casimir, UNC; and Anna Krylova, Duke. The discussion will supposedly cover Septima Poinsette Clark and women's activism; sport, identity and society in Cuba; and women in combat, violence, and the Soviet military.
