picture time
We have a back-log of events to report on and a huge number of pictues that should be posted, so I'm going to skip most of the narrative and just supply the pics. Since there are so many, I'm just going to post one "set" every other day for the next week or so. click "continue reading" to see the first group: Hailey G., Wazzu vet school graduation, and Spokane, WA.
At the beginning of May, Brooklynne, Halleigh, and I went out to Pullman, WA for Hailey's graduation from the WSU vet school. Hailey was one of Brooklynne's best friends at Utah State, and one of the bridesmaids in our wedding.

After the graduation, Hailey invited a bunch of friends out to an old-barn-turned-arts-collective in the Pullman hinterland for a graduation party. The barn featured this incredible fence made out of thousands of welded wagon wheels.

I really like the palouse outside of WA. This was my second trip, and it reminds of a hilly Oklahoma. When the wind blows, the grain swirls and moves just like a green/brown ocean. I also really like barns and grain elevators. I think I'll eventually do some paintings from some of my pictures from this trip.

After our time in Pullman, we spent one day and night in Spokane. We stayed in this little hotel called the Hotel Lusso, which was awesome. Definitely worth the extra $40 we would have saved if we stayed at one of the McMotels that we normally use. We got valet service, a complimentary afternoon wine service, fresh baked evening cookies, turndown service, and a hot breakfast in a cafe nextdoor rather than cold bagels in the hotel lobby. Did I mention that the room was one of the nicest I've ever stayed in, and it was located in a historic building in the heart of downtown? We also visited the Spokane centennial park (where Halleigh was introduced to the carosel), the Spokane great falls, and the Steamplant Grill built inside the steam plant that gave heat and power to downtown Spokane throughout most of the 20th century.

Here's one more sight that made us happy!

love the pictures! especially the last one!
Carlie... We saw that when we were in Spokane, WA, at my friend's vet school graduation. I told Miles that we HAD to get a picture of it and send it to you... we were sad that it was spelled wrong... actually it was a sign for the Hotel Carlyle, thus the Hot Carly. ha ha ha
