Happy 7 Month Birthday Halleigh Jane!

| | Comments (2)

Today at 2:51am, Halleigh turned 7 months. She has been here for the majority of a year. Miles and I have kept her alive for the better part of a year; that is an accomplishment, really. We were a little shocked when they just let us walk out of the hospital with her, they didn't care, aparently, that we had no idea what we were doing... Not that we aren't good parents, in fact I would venture to say (modesty aside) that we are GREAT parents, but none-the-less, we have reached a milestone. Happy Birthday Halleigh-gator! To see Halleigh's collection of cakes, read on.

So after I was born, my mom made a cake every month until I was one year old. At my one-year birthday I was set on the top of the table in my diaper and was let loose on the cake. I decided to carry-on this tradition with Halleigh. As I was planning the cake that I am going to bake her today, I realized that I should show you the cakes that have already been made. Perhaps, you could give me some ideas for the future cakes in the coming months.

Month 1:

left to right: Brooklynne, David (Elizabeth's husband), Halleigh, Elizabeth (Miles' sister), Evan (Miles' brother), Kelly (Evan's wife)

Month2: (I tried something different, but it didn't work out too well. It's cute because it's pink, but the cake was still warm when I frosted it, so the frosting was a little melty, so didn't hold its shape.)

left to right: Kelly, Evan, David, David Kernodle (Miles' life-long friend), Elizabeth, Halleigh, Brooklynne, Miles

Month 3: We were in Utah for Christmas, and this was on Christmas eve.

Month 4: This is a favorite. I talked to my mom between 3 and 4 and she said that she tried to have a seasonal theme. Since this was in january, I thought a snowman would be appropriate.

front row left to right: Beverly (Miles' mom), Elizabeth, Brooklynne, Halleigh, Mama H (Beverly's mom)
back row left to right: Larry (Miles' dad), David, Grandmother, Papa Sid (Larry's mom and step-father)

Month 5: I had big plans for this cake, it was suppose to be in the shape of two connecting hearts and decorated like the cany hearts at Valentine's Day... unfortunately, I was REALLY sick and was lucky just to get a cake made. I almost had to let Miles make the cake. But my mom did it for me, so I HAD to do it for her. ha ha ha

Month 6: I tried to make a "half of a cake" since she was half of a year old. It just looks like a half-circle cake... it's cute, anyway.

8 months shouldn't be hard...squash two round cakes together..ok, maybe not squash, but PLACE them together & cut out the middles. Voila! #8!

Cute idea!
