YGW days 2 and 3: the windy city

| | Comments (3)

When we woke up on day two, Jessica had already left for work, so Cory and I had a long quiet time, changed the screensaver on her computer to reply a thank you message, and then headed out to Chicago....

Two things we noticed on the way to Chicago: Illinois could be the worse smelling state in America, and Gary IN could be the ugliest city.

We were only in Chicago for one night and day, but here's a list of what we did.

1. Ate Chicago style stuffed pizza with the Jacksons, Cory's friends who we were staying with in a highrise with a view of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan.

2. Walked the miracle mile.

3. Went clubin' at Excaliber, a night spot filled with 30-year-old post-sorority girls and fashionably dressed men with receeding hair lines.

4. Ate lunch with another friend of Cory's in Boy's Town, a famed section of the city.

5. Ate Cheesecake at the Cheesecake factory in the John Hancock Building.

6. strolled along Navy Pier.

7. Watched Men in Black at 3 in the morning.

8. Met the Chicago Fruit Lady.

The Chicago Fruit Lady became the first stranger-interviewee in a series of sessions that came to characterize a large amount of the footage during the trip. Check out the clip....

After speaking with the Fruit Lady, Cory and I left for Madison, Wisconsin. We were leaving right at the end of rush hour, so we really had an appreciation for the traffic control officers who made the driving a little more comfortable for a couple of tourists like ourselves.

We also loved the friendly Chicago cab drivers.

Next stop Madison, Wisconsin!

I liked the fruit lady. She was a really good sport.
You two probably made her day a little less boring.
I think I might like a job handing out fruits and vegetables.
Did you actually eat the free items, or were you not quite yet missing the dough you blew on the Britney Spears/NSYNC value meal?

You must remember that we were fresh out of college, when we would eat dirt if it was being handed out free (for example, the Food not Bombs table every thursday on McCorckle Place). So yes, We did eat the free stuff, and it was great. I think it was mostly strawberries.

Those are so funny! Maybe not if it were anyone else but Miles & Cory, but I laughed all the way through the Fruit Lady.
