Surprise!

Hey all, Brooklynne here.
Miles has been begging me to post since we started this "web journal" (I hate the word blog)...
I thought the event of our family growing would be the perfect introduction.

I am so thankful to have friends and family like you; who have wrapped us in love and prayers. We are so excited about our addition, and are glad that you all are excited too!
I wanted to up-date you to say that I am really feeling great. The pregnancy "side effects" haven't kicked in yet, thankfully. The only difference that I really feel is that I am unusually tired all the time. I have been told that this goes away after a couple months, but I am sure it will return around October 3rd... The baby is due on October 2nd.
Miles has been GREAT! He'll be a great dad! The day that we found out that I was pregnant, he had to go to class, but when he got home he brought me a rose and some chocolate ice cream.
Miles even read (on his own, I didn't even ask him to) the "husband" chapter in the book "What to Expect When you're Expecting," it was pretty funny to hear his reaction to the reading; it was a little over-the-top.
He told me the other day that one of the things that he is looking forward to is coming home and taking naps with the baby sleeping on his chest... as long as there is a towel between them so that the drool and puke don't ruin his clothes. ha ha ha
One fun thing that happened in this week of pregnancy; the baby's heart started beating. Unfortunately, it is undetectable for another several weeks, but just knowing that it is happening has been really fun to think about.
Thanks again for your well wishes and prayers. We love you guys!
P.S. Miles has already had a heart-to-heart with the furry big sister (Kona Bean) about how the baby will NOT be a chew toy.

So, does that mean that you are 30 days pregnant?

The baby is due on my birthday!

You should name it Possum if it is a boy and Opossum if it is a girl.

Congrats and welcome to the world of parenting! Very happy for you and hope you continue to have none of the fun pregnancy symptoms!! A friend of mine is also preggo and aside from fatigue and a growing belly has no problems, I told her I get enough symptoms/problems during pregnancy for both of us! ;-)

Ah, the joys of being in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy during the heat of the summer....Daniel was born Oct. 10 so we have felt that joy...

Also, don't listen to Possum.

Here's to no morning sickness....:)

No offense Possum. Just don't think Possum/Opossum is a cute name for a baby.

Also, Brooklynne, I'd go to the store (or send Miles) for a couple cans of ginger ale just in case. And keep one in the fridge and one at room temperature in case one doesn't sit well on your stomach. Just from personal experience. It hit me at about 6 weeks.

Best to all 3 of you!

BethAnn-
Thanks for the Ginger Ale advice, I have heard about that a couple times as well as to stock up on saltine crackers. So, this morning Miles and I went out and stocked up. THANKS!

And don't worry everyone, Opossum/Possum is NOT in the name running... sorry Possum! Maybe that could be your pet name for it.

So far, the morning sickness has not been the problem--Brooklynne's incredible need for sleep is the main thing. She sleeps all night, comes home and takes a 2 hr nap, lays on the couch with her eyes half open and then goes to sleep again. This morning, I just couldn't sleep any more and I forced us to get up at 7:30. On the weekend!!!!

Miles, you need to be pregnant then you will understand!

Brooklynne said:

Thanks BethAnn, you make me feel so normal!

BethAnn said:

That's because you are normal!!! What I learned from being pregnant is that just about anything that happens to you during those 9 months is normal.

You guys are crazy -- this was an enjoyable discussion to read. I think possum is on to something ... perhaps a middle name is in order? So Miles, today I did not set an alarm and slept until 10:30. What do you think that means? Enjoy your crackers and ginger ale. What a strange combination! But if it works... And, oh yea, congratulations you guys!!! :)

Hi! You don't know me, but my name is Brooklynne Travis, and strangely enough I was googling my name, and I found your site. I was reading below about those two songs you found by jason harwell, and I thought I'd tell you that, as twisted as this seems, those songs are actually about me! Jason is a friend of mine and he decided to write a random song about me and put it on his flavors cd! Strange, huh? Small world. Anyway, get back to me when you read this :)
