Happy Birthday Mom!!!

Today is my Mom's birthday. Mom is one of the most caring and wonderful women in the world and she has been instrumental to my life in so many ways. Besides just raising me, Elizabeth, and Evan to be normal (I think) and positive members of society, she also gave me some tough love from time to time. In sixth grade she told me I should start watching what I ate (that was the same year the doctor told me not to be self-conscious because some men had breasts--I WAS JUST A LITTLE CHUBBY, OK!!!)! She also told me I was too negative and needed to choose to think positively. She also broke a wooden spoon on my butt once. Anyway, the point of all this is that my Mom was not afraid to take care of the harder part of relationships and she was great at confronting the tough issues with love and kindness. She's also really fun. So, here's to you, Mom!

Thanks for the Happy Birthday wish. Boy, you made me sound tough! You were a really fun, loving, intelligent and strong-willed little boy. I enjoyed it all and I loved you every minute! And I still love you and all your interesting thoughts and dreams entertain me.
You need to devote a blog entry wishing my mom a happy birthday (born the same day as your mom, but your mom was born a year before my mom). By the way, Happy birthday Mrs. Travis. And by the way, from the stories I've heard (e.g. the bedtime goodbye that Miles gave his father at a young age concerning a shotgun), I think you may not have been hard enough on him ... but he's turned out pretty good;).
Or his wish to be Satan so that he didn't have to go to church, because he hated the clip-on ties. I would have to say that Miles' mom is a saint having to raise that kid, but alas, I married him, so he can't be that bad...
Speaking of watching what you eat . . . did your mom approve of you once eating a stick of butter (margarine?) on a dare? Lol. But you are still alive, so no harm really.
Speaking of approval, how about the time you shaved your head at the model UN conference...
Or the time you killed a rat in your dorm room instead of capturing it and letting it go peacefully back outside....
