Football season is here again
The end of the summer is drawing close and once again football is in the air. I love watching college football, maybe more than any other sport and I've said it before--no offense to last year's UNC dream team--I would give three basketball championships for one in football. I know what you're saying. I won't hold my breath and I won't ask my great grand children to hold theirs either, but really, what are the Heels' chances in our league this season? Here is my prediction for the ACC this season....
9/10 UNC at Ga Tech..... W (GT are chronic underachievers)
9/17 UNC vs. Wisc....... L (The Badgers are too much)
9/24 UNC at NCST........ W (Throw out the stats)
10/01 UNC vs. Utah...... W (Utah will be a shaddow of 2004)
10/08 UNC at L'svlle.... L (Can we hold them under 60?)
10/22 UNC vs. UVA....... L (UVA is ever the bane of UNC)
10/29 UNC at Miami...... L (Miami will have its revenge)
11/05 UNC vs. BC........ L* (Game of the season for UNC)
11/12 UNC vs. UMD....... W (UMD will return to doormat status)
11/19 UNC vs. Duke...... W (Another decade with the victory bell)
11/26 UNC at Va Tech.... L (Va Tech should play for the league title)
*Even if I missed the call on some of the other games, UNC's bowl chances will hinge on the BC rematch in Chapel Hill.
Here's my predictions for the rest of the league.
Atlantic Division
1. FSU (9-2)
2. BC (8-3)
3. NCST (6-5)
4. Clemson (5-6)
5. Wake (3-8)
6. UMD (3-8)
Coastal Division
1. Va Tech (10-1)
2. Miami (9-2)
3. UVA (7-4)
4. UNC (5-6)
5. Ga Tech (5-6)
6. Duke (2-9)
ACC Championship
Va Tech (W) vs. FSU (L)

OK so you want my predictions--I think they will be pretty similar but here goes
GT--W--same reasons GT will underachieve
WS--W--Big Ten schools are overrated and its at home
NCSU--L--sad to say but not on the road this time--D is just too good
UTah--W--and who do they have returning?
L'vill--L--under 60 might be an accomplishment
UVA--L--too much talent but hopefully not as bad as last year
UM--L--bad loss
BC--L--we will get man handled on both lines
Mary--W--should be a close game
Dook--W--nuff said
VaTech--L--possibly a bad one as VaTech might be tring to impress voters
Overall 5-6 but could easily go 4-7, but wait till next year with the much easier schedule.
I would NEVER EVER trade a b-ball championship for one in football. No offense, I like football and all, but really, who in NC CARES that much about football? It's all b-ball here. As long as we are better than Duke (not hard) and sometime beat State in football, then let's just focus on b-ball. I think your predictions are a tad more with your heart than your head; I am guessing we will win 2-3 games total. But I hope I am wrong, because I do love my Heels.
