Wedding Day ---------- Year One ---------- Year Two

Tuesday was me and Brooklynne's two-year anniversary and we've been too busy with our crazy lives for me to post anything about it. But I want to continue a semi-regular top ten feature. So today's list is a top ten memories from my first two years of marriage and the two years we dated before that.

10. Babysitting Brooklynne's siblings for a week

10. Babysitting Brooklynne's siblings for a week
A couple of years ago, Brooklynne's parents took a cruise and left us with her three youngest siblings for a week. I always think its fun to hang out with the kids, but it was really cool for me to be a part of Brooklynne's family like that. We took the kids on a hike to a waterfall and camped out in the backyard. We even roasted marshmallows over our propane grill!

9. Moving to VA
Moving to VA from Montana was a huge adjustment and we're still getting used to our new place. But I wouldn't have wanted to strike out in a new city with anyone else. The move itself was pretty intense. We broke down only two hours into the trip and had to spend Brooklynne's birthday in Billings. Then we got to Colorado and discovered the nut that was supposed to be holding the towing ball on the hitch had fallen off. Then, I thought I was going to die barreling through a construction zone in West Virginia. Never the less, we made it and we're now making a life in Nova.

8. Snowshoeing
Snowshoeing became almost a weekly event for us in the winter months in Montana and I have lots of great memories from various excursions. My favorite trip is probably the one we took with Evan, but a close second was our first trip with Bean, when we hiked to Lava Lake. The forest was beautiful and light snow flurries followed us all along the way.

7. Graduation
How many people get to graduate with their wife? I did and it was an awesome day!

6. July 4th
Our first 4th together, Brooklynne was visiting the east coast for the time and we drove up to DC for the day. That night, the fireworks were awesome and as soon as they ended, it started pouring down rain. I just remember running through the rain in a throng of people trying to find the metro. The chaos was fun and exciting and a great Independence Day experience.

5. Snowboarding
Brooklynne and I knew we were in love when we snowboarded together for the first time at Bridger Bowl just north of Bozeman. The day was an incredible powder day and on our last run we both wrecked in a drift on a slope off the the Alpine lift. the snow was so deep we spent forever digging our boards out so we could get going again.

4. Our trip to the Keys
This year during spring break, we drove down to the Keys for almost a week. The highlights were teaching the dog to swim, eating a cheeseburger in paradise, going snorkeling, and seeing the Dodgers in Vero Beach.

3. Brooklynne making grits from scratch
Brooklynne wanted to make me a good southern dinner one night. She had never seen grits before, but somehow she got a recipe for making grits from scratch. It was one of the sweetest things she has ever done for me, but they were pretty funny grits!

2. Buying the dog
When I saw Kona Bean for the first time, she was a mangy, gross, scary looking dog. I knew Brooklynne was going to hate her, but when I asked to come over to talk in private, she was already in love! After Clinton Day spilled a huge bag of dog food all over his kitchen floor and then literally threw the dog into our car, we went directly to a groomer. When the dog came out, she was a new creation!

1. Beach in Oahu
Perhaps the time when I finally realized we were really married was the last day of our honeymoon when we drove to the north shore of Oahu and found a deserted beach and spent our afternoon together in a private oasis. Then we left and found a little fruit stand on the road with the most heavenly pineapple you've ever tasted. The most perfect day ever.

Although I didn't put it on the list, obviously our wedding day was incredibly special. But the wedding was only the beginning of the excitement. There's plenty more to come!

What about the circus pigeon (who we affectionately named Zip) that would stand on one leg with his toes hanging off the ledge, at the top of the Empire State Building?
The whole New York trip with Miles family was awesome! Especially because my brother, Ben, came too! That was a really great time when I got to know Miles' parents and sister really well.(I came to appreciate and love Mr. Toad's wild ride on that trip) It was a great bonding experience with my future family, and it is definitely on my top ten list!
